Refunds & Cancellation

No payment is taken on this website. Submitting an enquiry does not create an agreement, does not hold a property for you and does not commit you to paying anything.

What the $2,000 is

The $2,000 is a holding deposit, not a charge for advice and not a fee to get started. It is a commitment deposit that holds your place in our process while we work your search, and it is allocated to the deposit on the home you buy.

It is only payable once you review and accept a separate written agreement. That agreement, and not this page, sets out the exact terms that apply to you.

When your home is found

Once you proceed with a property, the full $2,000 is allocated to the deposit on that property and applied at settlement.

When it becomes a service fee

The only circumstance in which the holding deposit changes nature is where we cannot find a property that fits your finance pre-approval and the search brief you and we have mutually agreed. In that case the amount is retained as a service fee for the work carried out up to that point. The written agreement describes how that outcome is confirmed and recorded.

If you withdraw or your circumstances change

If you step back, change your mind, cannot obtain or maintain finance, or your circumstances change before a property is secured, how the holding deposit is treated is set out in the written agreement you signed. We will not treat it as a service fee outside the circumstance described above.

Before you pay

You will be given the written agreement to read before any payment is requested. We recommend you read the section on how the deposit is held, applied or converted carefully, and ask us about anything that is unclear, before paying.

Your consumer rights

Nothing on this page or in the agreement excludes, restricts or modifies rights or remedies you may have under the Australian Consumer Law. If a service fails to be provided with due care and skill, or is not as described, your statutory remedies may include a refund, a repeat service or compensation.

How to request a refund or cancel

To cancel an enquiry or raise a refund request, contact us at help@firsthomesorted.com.au or call 1300 810 914. Please include your name, the date you signed the agreement and a short description of your request. We will acknowledge your request and respond in writing.

If you have only enquired

If you have submitted an enquiry but have not signed an agreement, nothing is payable. You can ask us to delete your details at any time by emailing the address above.
